I enjoy romance but I tend to skim the love scenes. Even when they are totally appropriate, I'm just not reading for that, although I understand those that want to. I love a good plot and if two people get together and the plot has been working towards that, then that is even better but I'll still skim it.

In general, I dislike sex scenes but I'm okay with confessions and feelings being expressed. It's more meaningful imo

If the book has been intense, I think the author owes the reader a matching love scene. It can get sort of boring to do a cheesy love scene when the story was described quite differently.

I prefer the in-depth details to be omitted, particularly if they hold little relevance to the theme of the story. I find I lose interest quickly when such scenes are drawn out. If I wanted great detail I would choose a book of the romance/erotic genre.

Yeah, I too feel the same way. I am more interested in the plot and the story and the only reason I don't flip past a lengthy love scene is because I always feel like I might miss some important detail between the lines.

In general, I stay away from love stories so I prefer it when the love scenes are minimal in books. As far as gushy, I roll my eyes and skim through that part. If it's a sex scene, I will read it as long as it is important to the story. There is a series I used to read in which the sex would take up too much of the book, leaving few pages to the actual story, hence why I no longer read the series.

Depending on the genre of the book. Romance or love books need to have descriptive love scenes in my opinion.

I think love scenes should be left to the readers' imagination. But if there have to be 'graphic' scenes, they have to serve the purpose of adding more emotional layers to the story. Graphic scenes, for instance, are best illustrated in the erotic literature.

On a side note, if I am a writer of a book with either a love scene or graphic content, I WOULD definitely not let my parents read it.

It depends on the genre, but most of the time it's better without.

The descriptive love scenes make up this genre and humans being emotional beings, i think this is important. We identify more with the genre if takes you all the way.

Racy scenes are best for erotic novels, other genres maybe a little romance will do.

TOTALLY not a fan of racy/naughty scenes. It's why I typically stay way from romance novels, even though some have really intriguing plots. I have nothing against romance or love, and some of my favorite movies are focused on relationships. However, naughty scenes are just awkward to me. I always feel like someone is magically going to see what I'm reading and judge me for it LOL. Same with movies, people are amazingly good at walking in during the ONLY gory/naughty/vulgar scenes in a movie.
Nothing is true, everything is permitted.

In a novel, description of love scenes and the love act (especially in a a non-romantic genre) is an act that needs mastery to come out right and not be "gushy". Seasoned authors have mastered this act and do bring out the erotic action in a few words or phrases without being unnecessarily explicit. I agree that if it's not a romance novel, it better be kept out

I actually don't like sexual scenes in books. I don't think they are necessary to the story. In my opinion, a person can leave it to where you just get the idea. That's just my personal preference, I have never been a big fan of sexual details or foul language in books.
