Suggestion for New Statistic

Post by Anirudh Badri »

Hello all. I was just browsing and I came across the page where community statistics are detailed.I loved the idea and I would like to suggest adding a new section where the same statistic fields could be applied to new members (people who signed up in the last month)This could serve as incentive for new members to stay on as part of the community if their name is in the leader-board.

The importance of adding such a section is that new members generally are not contenders for any position on any leader-board. While it would seem that they have an opportunity to lead in lists that have a time limit (Threads of the Month, Top Posters so far this month etc) I would argue that people who are well-known within the community are still more likely to take these places since established posters are likely to be known and so other members of the community are more likely to interact with their posts and threads. This is by no means wrong, since it is only natural to gravitate towards those who have proven themselves valuable to the community. However, by setting out a separate list for newcomers, you level the playing field since newcomers would only be competing against themselves. As an extension to this perhaps you could add other fields like Most Promising New Reviewers etc.

P.S: While I would perhaps stand to gain with this suggestion (seeing as I am a new member myself), I assure you that I am posting this because I genuinely believe this would help.

I like this suggestion. I think I remember seeing some other good suggestions for new additions to the 'cool stats'. I'd love to have a full list of new 'cool stats' that members would like to see, and then I can plan a day to program them all at once while I am 'under the hood' so to speak.

Hi Scott. Glad you liked the suggestion and happy to help. Maybe you could open a new forum post asking specifically for suggestions for new statistics. That should help us to aggregate all the information and make it easier for you to implement.

I would like to see a "Most Book Submissions per Month" stat added.

I would also like to see my submission total added to my bookshelf...under the Currently reading , want to read, previously read list.

And how about a list of the book titles we've submitted? Or is that too much?
