UPDATE - Attn mobile users - Help me make this site better!

So that we can provide faster and better support, this forum (the "Public Suggestion Box") has been retired. Instead, please send any suggestions you have to us using the official website contact form.

This allows us to streamline our support system so that we can get to your message much faster. Instead of our support staff having to check three different places (support forum, suggestion box, and contact form messages), they know can respond to all message through one method, with that one method being the official website contact form.

I noticed the new mobile site. It will take some getting used to, but it definitely seems easier to view, from what little I have seen so far.

Scott, I use a Samsung galaxy S3 Android phone, a Samsung tablet and most times a Windows phone as well. My only issue with all three is that if I'm replying to a post an hour or more from the time I received the emails, it automatically remains on the same page from when the email was sent and not the updated page.

It's easier to be aware of that issue when I'm on the full site, so I still switch to that.

The mobile app is trickier to navigate. Harder to see what's going on with other users.

I have galaxy S3 and switch to the full site since I find it more easier to navigate.

I am used to the full site and find myself switching back to it, but I want to be more proficient with the mobile site because I think in the long run it will be easier.

I access it through the silk browser on my Kindle Fire HD, since I joined. I've never had any problems.

The bitter taste of failure is ruining my morning coffee.

:P

I think I will discontinue the new mobile template for the forums and instead I will make some smaller adjustments to the stylesheet for mobile users as I did with the non-forums part of the site.

@Scott
I have no idea if this is related but...
I'm using my phone (maybe it only looks the way it does because of that) and many members avatars are covering part of their posts and/or pm's.

In any case...it only just started :confusion-shrug:

Yes, it is totally related. I am making the site thinner width-wise on mobile devices. This should improve readability as it will make certain things appear bigger (since the site should shrink/expand to fit the screen exactly). An unintended consequence thus was that the avatars became massive and godzilla'd all over the posts. I have fixed it now.

As of this time, I have removed the new mobile template I tried out a few days ago. Instead, I have created a special stylesheet for mobile devices. This will make a mobile version of the site, but it will be very similar to the desktop version.

There will probably be a few more kinks. If you notice any errors, glitches, or anything that looks wrong is hard to use please let me know.

The good thing is that from a programming standpoint this solution is much easier to manage.

I have created a Kickstarter campaign to make an OnlineBookClub.org mobile app.

You will not be charged unless we reach our goal.

The great thing about Kickstarter is it costs you absolutely nothing to pledge. The project only gets funded if it reaches its goal. So enough other people also have to think the project is a good idea for your pledge to come into play. This protects you from donating to a failing cause.

So please go to the Kickstarter and pledge now.

Thank you!
