What book turned you on to reading and how old were you?

I've been interested in reading for as long as I can remember. I do have an older brother that has always enjoyed reading so it was probably just a copycat thing that turned into a passion. I used to read books that he read (he was three years ahead of me, reading a couple years above his level, so my reading level was super high) The only problem I have with reading is I read too fast, I get sad when I finish a book, and really devastated when I finish a series.

I have loved to read since I can remember. I think my most memorable moment of reading occurred in fifth grade when my teacher read us the novel Where the Red Fern Grows. It affected me deeply.

I don't think there was one book that did it. For as long as I can remember, I've been reading. One of the earliest books I remember reading is Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.

I honestly don't remember. I started reading when I was in elementary school and I was always reading. I don't remember the book or books that got me started on reading. I do remember liking a couple of series when I was little, but I read a lot before those series.

I was around 7-8 years old when I got hooked on the Babysitter's Club and Nancy Drew books. Thanks to those books I am now nicknamed The Bookworm.

I'm pretty sure that the first book I read on my own was Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham. My mom was reading me fairy tales before that though so I credit my love of reading to her.

A Little Golden Book called "The Monster at the End of This Book". It was the very first book I read on my own when I was 3 years old. Been hooked ever since.

Hope for the Flowers by Trina Paulus. My father read it to me when I was three-years-old and that convinced me that there was magic in the pages of a book. What encouraged me to read more on my own was the World Book Encyclopedia when I was eight.

In first grade my mother got a subscription to a children's book club. I think it was twice a month that a box of books would get delivered by mail. My sisters and I would read and re-read these books until the next shipment arrived. That is what started my love of reading.
