Poverty

Post by Angelique Webb »

She sobbed in outrage ,
hungry and pale -
she was furious with the world ,
with her life -
her circumstances.

Her questions would go unheard ,
her pain :
unnoticed.
Windows would shatter
of her skyscraper screams.
Whole cities would quake
at the sound of this homeless girl
begging to be found.

Alone at night ,
seeking shelter from the city
and the monstrosities that reign within.
Hiding amongst the shadows ,
was a man with a ferocious hunger.

Scared and hopeless,
she lay as he took and stole -
abandoned and violated -
she lay as her misery
had once again
been demonstrated.

Her heart once pure and kind ,
lay broken -
redefined.
No one heard her cries
as she closed her eyes
and died.
.

Seven snaps..a heart felt for the abuse of a Woman.
The reality of one of the forms of poverty.

Very nice poem.

I couldn't get the vote thing to work, but I don't think the poem is too long.
“I just got out of the hospital. I was in a speed reading accident. I hit a book mark and flew across the room.”
