Twelve-year-old Kyle wished he and his mother could stay back in San Francisco. After all, his friends were all there. Kyle's mother had gotten a new job in India, so they had to move, even though Kyle wished otherwise.

Even while they were still en route to India, Kyle's life began to change. On the journey, he finds mysterious marbles and meets an odd-looking man who advises him to hold on to his game piece. Kyle didn't understand what the man meant at the time. Once they got to India, Kyle and Rahip, a friend he met on the journey to the country, soon discover the hidden magic in the land. But they have to be careful because things are not as they seem!

Marbles: Eye of the Tiger by Myrna Doreen White is an intriguing children's book with well-developed characters and a very engaging plot. There were times I forgot I was reading a children's book due to how suspenseful the book was for me. I fear kids would be so engrossed in this book that we might need to show our strict side if we must have them do something else. But there's a lot to learn from the book, so let them read!

This book is going to entertain and educate children simultaneously. There's good humor in it. There are also new words for them to add to their vocabulary, and they'd learn a few things about the culture of Indians. Nevertheless, what I enjoyed the most about the book is its moral aspect. The author's intention to promote morals like courtesy and gratitude is clear. I believe children are going to benefit from this aspect of the book and become better individuals. Thanks a lot, Ms. White!

Furthermore, I liked the author's simple but engaging writing style. Children will find the narrations easy to follow and understand. The author also creates an atmosphere of suspense, which I am sure will make the book hard to put down. Children will be intrigued by Kyle and Rahip's adventures. More so, I must commend the author for the excellent characterization in the book. I am in awe of how well she portrayed the behavior of kids. Rahip's sister, Carrie, immediately reminded me of my niece. She always teases her brother and is curious to know all his moves. I am sure children will be thrilled by the life-like and relatable characters in the book.

To conclude, I am rating Marbles: Eye of the Tiger 4 out of 4 stars. The 248-page book is professionally edited and with only a few minor errors. I am recommending it to children between the age of 9 and 12. The author's work in this book is praiseworthy, so I do not doubt that children will find it intriguing.
