The King’s Drapes by Jocelyn Tambascio follows the life of a small town's king. Every day, the king proclaimed that his drapes simply were not good enough. This sends his court scrambling to constantly make something new and better every night. Unfortunately, this meant that the town was left with old, sad clothing as the king used all the fabric for his drapes.

Soon, there was no more fabric for even the king's drapes. His court returned home awaiting the wrath of the king when he learned there was no more fine fabric for his drapes. Yet, the brightest girl in town had a plan. She was going to make the king see what he was doing to his people. How she does this is up to you to find out when you read the book.

Honestly, I found absolutely nothing I disliked about this book. I found no grammatical errors either. For a small, picture book, I generally expect this and was happy to see the author had done her work.

There was just so much to enjoy with The King's Drapes. It started at the very beginning when the characters turned out to be birds! I found this rather titillating, and the drawings of birds wearing clothing are sure to make kids giggle. I also liked the lesson throughout the book. It focuses on greed, and I think it is important for kids to learn about this.

Overall, I have to give this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was adorable and sure to engage young kids. I found no errors either.

I would recommend this book to parents with young kids, particularly in elementary school or younger. They are going to love the illustrations and story. An added bonus is that this book teaches children an important lesson about greed that they can take with them through life.
