CHALLENGE: Six word story.

Post by Thea Frederick »

In honor of the six word story attributed to Earnest Hemingway,
“For sale: baby shoes, never worn.”
Who wants to give a six word story a shot? Here is mine, although it pales in comparison to Hemingway’s :-)

Love won’t enter this forgotten heart.

(Mine is not a personal reflection, just something expressive and an attempt to communicate large meanings through few words)
I’d love to see what you can come up with!

I wrote this one to a 6-year-old who was (still is) an avid reader. The aim was to use assonances and rhymes to make it funny. The original sentence was slightly longer, but here, for the sake of the 6-word criteria, I got it shorter.

"A very merry mighty happy birthday!"
To read or not to read? That's not even a question!

Ooh, I like that! Certainly leaves a lot up to the imagination, which is one of the intriguing things about this challenge!

Mine is rather a morbid one.

Plane on the ground, in pieces.
It was so gorgeous it almost felt like sadness. The Lake, Banana Yoshimoto

In Six Word Wonder by Doug Weller, I found this:

Ski boots for sale.
Wanted: Wheelchair

And my attempt:
Storm knocked out power, ventilator stopped!

Depressed at weight, candy fixes mood.

(So true! I noticed I'd gained weight, felt disgusted, ate chocolate and quit minding...until I finished it. )

And:
Newborn - sweetest reason to be sleepless!
