Ripcord Recovery by T. T. Sawyer is a memoir of an addict (drugs and alcoholism) that wants sobriety in day to day life. The author's main purpose in writing this book is to encourage another addict realigning into the right spirit. An open-mindedness is necessary for reading this book; it tackles on the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual aspect of a person who desires a sober life. The book is suited to all matured people only; addiction is a sensitive issue and most of the time it is fatal. If you are not in this tract of addiction, you are blessed, but you can help by sharing Sawyer's ideas with your peers.

Sawyer exposes the tremendous life-cycle of an addict who is in the path of sobriety, but can't take it any longer. Relapse happens than in the full abstinence of alcoholic drinks or drugs. Sawyer has been two decades of having a sober life, for instance, relapse happens. Most of the time, addicts are bothered on the withdrawal symptoms like restlessness, mood swings, and less on concentration. Oftentimes irritated! The first thing an addict wants is to go back on taking drugs or alcoholic drinks beside taking all anti-depressants. Sawyer practices three methods to obtain a sober life which he expounded in this book; he never tired of trying to change his old path into the right spirit.

I appreciate Sawyer's guidelines in achieving sobriety again; his metaphor of the three-legged stool is the perfect example. Though the situation varies, he also explains everybody has his or her own body frame and has different struggles in life. His methods may not be applicable to all, but his ideas will do. My ratings for this book is 4 out of 4 stars. He is sincere in sharing his sober life to all addicts in whatever type of methods they are in. The road is not easy to achieve sobriety, but his campaign in "choosing life than death" is a great help. He explains further that there is "hope" and an addict is able to make the changes. "Change is a matter of choice."

We all know that all nations are in the so-called "war on drugs."Every day, report of death is rampant about this matter. Teenagers are most of the time involved and even exploiting children on this type of trade. Why do addicts do it when they know it is wrong and live with it? Take a look at this book and discover Sawyer's answer.

The book is a letter-type memoir of an addict to an addict. It is a short book, and it is easy to read all the pages in one day. I did not encounter any misspelled words, it is written with good grammar and it projects professionally edited. One thing that I least liked is the presentation of "cannabis" in obtaining a sober life. It may be legal in some countries, but prohibited in other countries.

Interesting. Sounds like a book that could help others who are in the same boat. The "choosing life" campaign sounds great as well. Thanks for this review!

This book is really a helpful one. Sawyer was so practical while maintaining some level of anonymity.

How true! If you are a person who does not struggle with addictions, you are truly blessed. He has a noble desire to help others overcome their addictions. I hope his story will help others. Thanks for your review.

For those who are struggling to stay sober, this sounds like a helpful book. It was very courageous of the author to put his own addiction out there as a way to help others. Thanks for the review!
