The book, The Mindset by Ace Bowers, is a memoir journey about the author's depressed childhood to a successful young man at the age of 28 with happy family. In this book the author bare his soul scars that deeply effect his childhood's innocence, understanding about others thoughts and was facing the poverty, peer pressure for not having new uniform, needed school supplies and depression for not inviting friends for sleepover or day spent even his best friends to his home as their parents were living paycheck to paycheck life. His father and mother was addicted and drink every night followed by fight inside the house. Budget was miss managed due to over purchase of drugs. He always tried to hide his living conditions from his friends. At the age of 18 he was a lackluster teenager without higher education, unemployed with ruined credit score. Becoming a father is a turning point and take this news as motivation that he don't like to have the same struggles, difficulties and depression for their children wanted to give them financial emotional social security.
This motivation paved his path from a janitor towards a great successful Millionaire. All this must have been done just because of determination fueled by self motivation leading to change of mind set which the author called over Comer's mindset. He decided not shadow all his miseries to his children Noah and Ariel. He looks strong believer of God's help that is reflected in his kids names. His rock to stand or real driving force was his beloved wife who was calm and balanced personality. She helped the Ace and trusted him when he was just a janitor albeit of being a member of wealthy family of Japan.
A life changing attitude, optimistic approach and good habits can take person from pit of despair to new horizons of success. Journey with full of trials and errors, ups and downs, hard work, right decisions and giving the priority to his family life made him to become a good father who gave his kids a safe childhood with secure future. He also helps his parents and his big brother who spent 20 years of his life in jail that made forgivness is one of pillers of success. He make his suffocated and stressful memories the spark of motivation.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars for its incredible writing, easy to read, not being lengthy, focused on the topic. This book is well edited and well published. Although writer sometime added minutia to it but he is sincere in telling his turbulent childhood memories. This book pivots how family dysfunction badly effect childhood experiences and if one does not adopt the positive attitude this may going to affect another generation like his mother's traumatic episode of her childhood abuse wrecked his household environment and hindered him to invite friends to his home that was really embarrassing and also thwarted the dream of Disney land stay.
This book has strong impact due to its intriguing title, compelling cover targeting the reader who are interested in reading memories and want to take instant dose of self motivation. But this book is not about a step by step guide of becoming rich.
