Personally when i'm in a hurry to buy a book I do base it purely on the front cover (this is how I came to read twilight).
It also brings in a couple of red herrings to the book. So it is very well thought out by the author

I read that as well, though I haven't picked up the book. I was curious about how well he tied the mask design to an unrelated novel!Vscholz wrote: ↑02 Dec 2018, 22:17 According to the author's bio on Amazon, he helped create/design the mask. It makes sense that he would use what might be his most widely known design. Even though it is primarily associated with the Scream franchise, I don't know that the author could get the same reaction with a different cover. Or maybe he is trying to reclaim it in some way?

Oh, I have definitely done the same thing! I am very guilty of choosing books by their cover art first and then being drawn in from the blurb. We're all slaves to shiny objects sometimes!Ice dragon wrote: ↑04 Dec 2018, 21:25 * My reading of twilight was a very bad thing, I was trying to work in the negative

If he did help to create it then I can understand why he'd use it for the cover, even if it is tied to a different franchise it's also a part of him in a wayVscholz wrote: ↑02 Dec 2018, 22:17 According to the author's bio on Amazon, he helped create/design the mask. I agree with that. It also makes me even more interested in reading the book.
