Read my first Graphic Novel!

Post by batkinson6490 »

Was very pleasantly surprised! I did a book challenge last year and was to read a Graphic Novel so I chose Watchmen. I couldn't put it down! I loved every bit of it and even had to go out and buy the DVD to see how closely they related. Anyone else enjoy these? What are your feelings about Graphic Novels Vs Regular Ole Books?

Also, any recommendations for more? I am now very curious about this genre! 8) 8)

I'm planning to read Watchmen, eventually. I actually just finished V for Vendetta, also by Alan Moore, and loved it. I'd seen the movie prior, but reading it was a whole new ballgame.
Highly recommend it!

Oohh I just watched the movie again a couple of weeks ago! I will definitely have to check that one out as well. I loved the graphic novels way more than I thought I would! I normally am so stuck in my paperbacks but I branched out and I feel I shall never go completely back!

Let me know what you think of Watchmen. I give it 4 out of 4 for sure!

I LOVED Watchmen but I haven't watched the movie yet. I've also read V for Vendetta and thought it was okay. While I enjoy reading graphic novels I have to say I prefer reading regular novels. :P Also I find that it's kind of hard for me to find graphic novels that I actually like or that interest me. :P

WATCHMEN is such an amazing movie. It really shows the real side of super heroes. That they're not always great and perfect. I have not read the comic, but I do want to pick up a nice vintage edition someday!

I was pleasantly surprised as well when I read my first graphic novel. Illustrations can convey a lot more than one would think. And the pace moves much faster than standard novels, so you can feel like a speed reading genius after finishing a book in one sitting :)

Watchmen and V for Vendetta seem to be the stepping stone for most people to branch out into graphic novels. It's great that more people are exploring the genre!

So glad you love graphic novels! I'm a huge fan, especially as someone who's an educator. Kids definitely respond better to literature that is accompanied by something visual.

I recommend the author Doug TenNapel. I loved both Cardboard and Ghostopolis. They're great plot-wise and visually!

I think watchman is widely considered one of the best graphic novels from a literary perspective and it makes a lot of Top X lists. Glad you liked it.

I never heard of Watchmen. I might check it out. I think comic books can be better than regular books sometimes. It really depends on the book.
