Loved this book, have read it twice now. It's one of those books that I find hard to close once opened.

If Twain were alive today he'd be pleased that his book still had to power
to "offend". Especially in light of the latest attempt to bowdlerize his text.
We Americans are still grappling with the results of a system that legalized
the buying and selling of fellow humans, and Twain shows us the cruelties
and absurdities that result when immoral behavior is given legal sanction.
Huck Finn condemns himself as a criminal for helping his friend, a slave,
who is actually a free man. Twain is merciless at showing the folly and
hypocrisy of human behavior that is nakedly self serving while pretending
to be otherwise. We need a Twain today today to deal with rise of giant
corporations that legally masquerade as people without any of the human
obligations that go with making a decent society What could he have done
with an Enron or a Bernie Madoff?

This is my very first book; my auntie provided me this publication as a Christmas present. This is a pleasant publication for youngsters to read.

Huck Finn is an example why literature can't be considered "timeless". The way people speak, and writing styles, change over time. I didn't like it.

It has been quite some time since I've read this book, but definitely remember it. It is such a classic and everyone should experience it at least once.

I don't think I've actually read this. I have watched the movie when I was younger though, I did enjoy it.
