As some of you know, a few days ago I released the short ebook 10 Step Plan to Promote Your Book: Online Book Marketing on Any Budget. I released the book for free, but due to Amazon restrictions it is only free for 5 days with tomorrow being the last day.

Of course, the book is geared towards authors. So my plan was originally never to make a public announcement of it on the forums.

However, I am so happy with the response this has gotten in just a few days. It is now ranked on Amazon as #635 out of almost 90,000 free books for Kindle. It is #1 in the 'Writing Skills' category.

I am posting here to ask for help from all of you on this last day. Please help us climb the ranks even further. Every time someone downloads the book it is like a vote. So please even if you aren't author just go to the Amazon page for the book and download the book while it is still free.

If you can, please try to read at least the one-page intro too.

I really think this book will help even more authors find this awesome community!

Since many people on this site will likely be reading this book, maybe you can set up a topic or subforum in the Writing section for further discussions on the methods you suggest.

Good idea. Are you suggesting a different topic for each section of the book or maybe just one topic for the whole book?

It's hard to say since I only read the intro so far. I defer to your judgment.

I downloaded my copy. I think if you have an area that you can post different topic threads like how the book of the month is structured it would encourage more people to read the book and discuss it.

Hmmm.... maybe instead of a forum just for this book we could add a 'marketing and promotion' section to go with the writing section. I could make a topic in that section to discuss the book. What do you think?

I like that idea. Marketing is so important. Having a successful book seems to be 50% writing a good book and 50% marketing.

Downloaded the book yesterday. I shall be reading it over the next few days.

I took the night watch to follow the rankings! (Okay, fine, it was daytime the whole time here, and I had nothing else to do with my Sunday!) But I did check every now and then and witnessed the number continue to drop below 400! At the time I am writing this, it is a #351 in the free book store! Whoo hoo!

I still can't get over how awesome that first review is.

It's been number one in its category for a while now too. But to be #329 out of almost 90,000 free books is awesome, especially considering this book really has such a specific market. I think that's a truly amazing rank for a book in this category. The book has become its own proof: its now a bestselling book about promoting books.
