Before posting in this marketing forum, please try to read 10 Step Plan to Promote Your Book: Online Book Marketing on Any Budget. This forum is mainly for followup questions and discussion after reading that book. This forum does indeed allow for much broader discussion of marketing and promotion than just that book, but it's good for everyone to be on the same page about the basics.
Please note, this forum is not for self-promotional plugs. It's for discussing how to promote your book or other writing.
On July 21, one of my books will be featured as, "Book of the Day." I have self-published two books which are available on Amazon... as have many of you fellow writers. So far, return on advertising has not been even close to the expense. My last hope is for, "Book of the Day," which, by the way... is not inexpensive. I am wondering if others in my predicament have experienced the same thing. I realize that millions of books are self-published yearly and I never did expect money to be flowing in. I only would like some distribution and get my stuff out there. I have legitimate reviews and my work is way better than much of the writing advertised on, "Book-Bub," which by the way will not accept my books for ads even though they charge a pretty penny. I would love to hear from those of you that have spent serious dough for, "Book of the Month," or, "Book of the Day." How did that work out for you? Did the sales results at least equal your cost? By the way, I was required to reduce my pricing to $0.99 which does not leave margin for recouping advertising fees. Please chime in.
Since I posted this over a month ago, there have been no replies. That's alright as I will post my own reply in case any writers are curious about the cost effectiveness of spending $1498 for, "Book of the Day." I can't speak for others that have utilized that advertising method. Simply put, for me it was a waste of time and money. I have had Zero sales since the book was advertised on, "Book of the Day." ZERO My recommendation for those considering any kind of advertising on this site to think it over carefully and don't waste your money. I did get some unsolicited reviews that must have been A.I. or some human that did not read the book. The reviews were not even close to the book I advertised. Beware... do not waste your funds on this obvious scam.
The "Book of the Day Promotion" is a special event where one book is offered at a discount or with extra benefits for a limited time, and it changes every day. The books featured can be popular bestsellers, new releases, or hidden gems, and they come in many different genres. To take part, just visit the website with the promotion, choose the daily book, and buy it before the offer ends. The promotion often includes discounts, free content, or even free audiobooks. You can also share the deal with friends, and sometimes get extra rewards for doing so. Availability depends on where you live and the platform, so check to see if it’s available in your country.
The December Book of the Month is a beautiful hardcover children's book for ages 2-6, which makes a great gift for the kids (and parents) in your life.
