Hi all, I'd like to know what your thoughts on famous Insta-poets/Tumblr-poets and their poetry is, because I personally feel many conflicting things at the same time. Thank you!

It's a new form and is the same as writing poems down in a personal journal. I think that if people are being creative and artistic and want to express themselves publicly than good for them!

I get your point because earlier I, too, had conflicting opinions. But as I explored more and more, I came across some interesting Instagram poets and writers. I especially love R.H. Sin, Tyler Knott Gregson and Christopher Poindexter. Yes, people might not consider them the real poets or their work as real poetry but as long as they express artistically and beautifully, and a reader enjoys and appreciates their art, anything else really shouldn't matter.

I am new to Instagram, and have not heard of this poetry type! I will have to start searching them out. I love how Instagram allows people to be so creative with images.

I think people having new ways to express themselves is wonderful! The medium of poetry changing with the times will allow it to exists and be relevant longer. I think it's great for people to be expressing their creativity.

It's another medium to share one's thoughts and expressions so I don't mind it. Especially these mediums satiate the millennial's instant gratification "problem". These poets are easily found and can gain a lot of followers so it's good for them. Besides, isn't that why writers write? For people to read and acknowledge their compositions? I'm sure there are also great writers among those who post on Instagram and Tumblr, one just has to come across someone they connect to.
