This is the first poem I ever wrote while in college. Please feel free to give you're honest feedback. Thank you

Homosexuality
Not an unknown concept
Present in every society
But not that all accept

Getting attracted to the same gender
It isn't something planned
Love is an emotion so tender
Not to be restricted or banned

We shouldn't judge each other
Let each to his own
Having a true partner is much better
Than being all alone

Rise Above the Flames

I rise above the flames
And I think I'm there again
That place I used to know
The place where I could grow.

It felt so lost to me then
But I knew it wasn't the end
I pushed and fought my way through
And I'm back on the side i always knew.

A place of love
A place of kindness
A place abandoned of closed mindness.

I'm here to stay
I'll never again stray
and allow the darkness to find me.

I think that is sort of a good poem. It is an aesthetic idea about completely a normal and a usual thing. I think a poet should be such a person who sees the value of ordinary things in a different way, other than the ordinary people see it
