Music on the Radio?

Post by kaymontacell »

Hey guys!

I was wondering what proportion of music you listen to is through radio (as opposed to downloaded music, streaming, physical media, etc.) I listen to music through streaming and have a lot of digital downloads, but ever since I became involved with my local radio station, I started to try to make an effort to listen to more music on the radio.

I listen to music all day every day -- but I'm strictly an involuntary radio listener.

ie: in stores, coming from passing cars, neighbors, other people's houses (though I do politely ask for relief).

I usually listen to music on the radio when I am on my way to work. Otherwise, I listen to my downloaded music. I remember thinking when I was growing up that it would be so cool to pick what songs I listened to. Now, I can! Technology is great:)

Radio has always been a hit or miss experience for me. I only listen to it when there are no other options and I'm needing some tunes. I generally prefer to listen to my own massive music library.

I do enjoy a bit of Radio 6 every now and again! I also like classical stations and online radio stations. Chart hits are, however, not for me.

I'm too particular and not spontaneous enough to enjoy radio airplay. Since custom curation is an option, I always go with that. Plus, I'm a huge fan of music as an art, so I still believe in the album and supporting artists with physical sales. I'm probably 90% digital library 10% vinyl.

There are too many commercials on the radio. I only use Google Play Music. No commercials, unlimited listening to whatever I want for a small fee and I can make my own playlists.

I tend to like the songs on the radio, particularly from nova and kiss 1065. Although there are always certain songs that I just can’t warm up to and some that I prefer more than others.

If I find a station that plays the kind of music I like, I will listen to it. I should be ashamed(I am not) to say that I like not having the power to skip over a song that I'm not so excited about. I get to listen to more diverse music as a result.

The current trend of popular music is lacking too. Though if anyone knows a good rock station down south I might try it.

My local radio station plays great music, so I tend to listen to them when I'm in the car. I've found a lot of artists that I love because I heard it on that station. It's where I discovered Ben Folds, Vampire Weekend, and Frank Turner, to name but a few.

I find radio rather boring, I’d much rather have silence if there was no other option
