Are there any TV shows about poetry? I don't recall seeing any shows that feature poetry.

poetry idol, now that would be something!

It is strange there is no poetry tv...but maybe because poets don't watch a lot of tv?

A poetry TV series has been done in Australia. It is called "Bush Slam" and is an Australian Broadcasting Corporation show, with host H.G. Nelson (Greig Pickhaver). He introduces different city poets to different country towns and they have to write about that town. It was very watchable, very inventive (almost improv style) and sometimes quite moving watching the townspeople hear their home spoken about in verse.

This is a bit of the background:

"Bush Slam", three days, two poets, one town….Finding the heartbeat of the nation in verse. ABCTV "Bush Slam" puts poets and poetry in motion across Australia to discover the true spirit of the country.

Host H.G. Nelson is at the wheel of the "Bush Slam" bus, each week taking two very different poets to explore a rural community and meet its people. Each is given just three days to capture the heart of the town in verse – and then the tricky bit, to perform their work on camera before the locals in a live head-to-head poetry slam for a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down! Their styles cover a vast spectrum, from bush poetry, to country, to hip hop."

I've heard about 'Bush Slam', but had no opportunity to watch it.
But I think that poetry tv shows are rather nice idea and it will be very popular among the scholars also.
