I do have some poems by Ben Burroughs. They are tattered with age, but i hang onto them because they were sent by my father when I was a little girl. We were separated by many miles and he would write me letters and always include one of the poems with some philosophical or sentimental message. They were always inspiring, even though I was so young. I cherish Ben's poems and would like to find a book of these poems. The title of his column in the NY Journal American was "Sketches"...

My late father had the following in hi effects. I THIK it is by Ben Burroughs. My father's comments wer that he remembered it from 9th grade in 1935. He attributed it to "Ben Burrows." I don't know if this is really Ben Burroughs.

"To the Past"
Each day I live I add a link to my chain of memory,
Another link that holds me to the land of used-to-be.
For when a day has passed away it is forever gone,
And only through my memory can I recall its sun.

My chain of memory is long; it reaches through the years,
Back to the days of my childhood when my world was full of fears.
It takes me flying through my youth when hearts were young and gay.
It brings me still a little faster on up to today.

I’ll keep adding to my chain until my hair turns snow.
So that I may recall the years that all too swiftly go.
