Both matters to me. I love when the lyrics is good, but if the lyrics is good but the background music isn't, what's the point.

I don't care how good the beat of a song is if the lyrics to the song aren't good.

I think both is important to me. If the two does not fit together, I don’t enjoy it very much.

It's really a combination. If a song has a great tune but meaningless and empty lyrics, I would pass.

Lyrics if I am out to listen to the song. Background if I am reading with it. The two works fine. But a song needs to have a good lyrics before I fancy it. Therefore it is lyrics
"I am learning every day to allow the space between where I am and where I want to be to inspire me and not terrify me."

I'm not going to be able to leave any of them out. I'd listen to both the melody and the lyrics!

It’s lyrics for me. It’s the beginning of all; without it, there’s no music. Even though there are songs without lyrics, it plays a vital role in the industry. It’s the life of every music.

That really depends. If it is a from a language I understand, I prefer it background, but if it is from a foreign language, I go for the lyrics, preferably the translation.

Honestly for me, they both play major roles on how we perceive music. The background declares the tone and the lyrics shed light.

I think my answer could be both. Both affect my listening, but sometimes the tone is what commences. Listening to it so many times made me assess and consider the lyrics.

It depends though. However, most of the time, it’s the music first that hooked me. But, liking a particular song would edge me to look at or even memorize its lyrics.

Lyrics vs Background music is a hard choice, but I would choose Lyrics. Lyrics is the most influential in a music part because the meaning is inside the lyric and we cannot understand it without lyric. In a lyric, we learn a lot of lessons depending on its genre, and this makes us generate realizations on life experiences.

I listen to music expecting to get a message from the song. So I am particular about the lyrics of a song. The background music still has to be enticing to the ears anyway. If a song has good background music without good lyrics, I would never listen to that song more than once
