Playing Blasting Music with headset while reading: Good or Bad?

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

Oh my God. Just reading that have me a headache. I wouldn't understand a word if there's blasting music in my earphones.

I rarely read with any music on, and when I do it's not in earphones. It would usually be soft music and the volume wouldn't be too high.

I have to have peace and quiet while reading otherwise I find myself re-reading the same paragraph multiple times. I cannot imagine trying to read and listen to music at the same time successfully.

Humans are unique. And as such we reason and behave differently. I can understand her view. But personally, it's a no

I’d be more worried about blasting the music in your earbuds. It could cause some hearing damage. I find it hard to concentrate on reading when I’m listening to music unless it is instrumental or a movie score.

I think it's actually not a good idea! Atleast for me!
Cause when I listen to music that too blasting one I just get too distracted and will not be able to concentrate! :techie-studyinggray:

Nope, I won't be able to enjoy neither. I'll probably get lost in the lyrics and what to play next.

She may end up not enjoying the music and at the same time not understanding what she read.

Headphones that go over your ears can also damage your hearing if you use them too long or play music too loudly. They're just not as much of a risk as earbuds are: Having the source of the sound in your ear canal can increase a sound's volume by 6 to 9 decibels — enough to cause some serious problems.

I love doing that, especially if I'm reading for studies, or to gain understanding. I find that music helps me to focus.

I can't even imagine how much of distraction it would be. I would neither be able to enjoy the music nor the book. Even a slight noise is distracting for me because I get so engaged in the book.

Oh, definitely not for me, very distracting.I cannot pull it off, I wouldn't be able to make a word stick. atleast the music has to be at moderate volume for me to be able to concentrate on the book I am reading.

Unless it's low volume or lo fi beats, there is no way one can read and focus on a song at the same time. Science has proven that the brain can only focus on one thing at a time, whether that thing is a song, TV, mediation or reading.
