What do you think about spoken poetry?

I love spoken poetry. I really enjoy watching people do it, especially if it's from the heart. Spoken poetry is always so with emotion, you feel it. I've never done it though; I don't think I could do it. I write though.

Spoken poetry is very good when its done by someone who has a lot of confidence and can move your emotions. I've heard whack before and I tell you its not easy.

I prefer listening to authors reading their own poetry because it highlights what about their words are meaningful to them. I read a poem first to extract what meaning I see in it, and listening to the poet read it alters my perception every time. Looking at a person as you listen to them bear their soul in their poetry creates and experience of connection that elevates the art form.

It's my belief that, much like Shakespeare is meant to be seen in a theatre, not necessarily read, poetry is meant to be read out loud, whenever possible. I've participated in a few spoken word events myself, and I've found that it can be enriching to hear the words in tandem with individual interpretation. It's like adding salt to a dish. The dish may taste fine all on its own, but adding salt can help highlight the flavors of the food, and make it even more delicious.

Poetry is a way to express your feelings. It's a way to make someone realize that how much you love them. You can melt someone's heart . you can get someone's heart.. It is feeling out of the world. It just amazing

I enjoy going to see Slam Poetry although I don't specifically write my own poetry for that reason. I do listen to how it sounds aloud - just too depressing. Fun to hear others though.

Well I actually think spoken poetry is so much cool
Actually when I listen to spoken poetry I drive all my attention towards the Poet
Once in class their is a friend of mine who used to do poets and she was discouraged by the teacher I cried so much for what I had the teacher was saying .She was also crying alot as soon as the teacher got out of class I went to talk to her & convinced her enough to forget what the teacher said
I talked and talked to her until she smiled and said Thanks and she continued doing the poets
Actually I love poets because they are moving and captive

The first time I seriously listened to spoken poetry was when it was part of a filipino series called On the Wings Love, and it was a brilliant move on the part of the writer. After that, I have not really come across spoken poetry.

Spoken poetry is an art form. Sometimes on line magazines will have the poet record herself speaking the poem on video when published. Then you can hear how the poet really wanted the pooem to be read

I used to complete in a Poetry Slam event twice a week year in college and was in charge of planning it one time. What frusterested me is that the judges seemed to favor loud and vulgar poetry above other poems, even if they weren't well written. I often felt excluded from the slam poetry scene because the poetry I write isn't loud or vulgar. I felt like I always had to dirty it up a bit, but I wasn't willing to do that to chase praise. I enjoy watching others do it, but was never good at it myself.

What do I think about spoken Poetry?

I think that it is a form of Art Work. I am a Writer as well. I write Poetry and Gospel Songs. Some people write about what they have experienced and form it in an act. Some basically just write. A Writer Writes expressing their inter-self sometimes. Or what is present. Some not all.

Spoken Poetry makes sense to the person that speaks it at times. Making sense to others listening as well.

I'd prefer to call it performing poetry rather than just spoken poetry. And yes, I love it. It can be incredibly powerful. The intonation and pace and also the performer's timbre can really bring a poem alive....so much better than reading the words off a page.
