What if you could choose a song at your funeral?

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

My Love's Like a Star by Demi Lovato just to remind everyone that I may be gone but I still love them.

Stayin' Alive by Bee Gees or Highway to Hell by AC/DC (depending upon the atmosphere)

I would just go full on drama queen and have several different versions of My Immortal on repeat.

I'd love for Ob-la-di Ob-la-da by the Beatles to be played at my funeral. Its the first song my little baby brain remembered, and so since it started my life it might as well end it.

It would be 'if I did young' by The Band Perry and 'carry you home' by James Blunt.

Well, thinking about the after life. I will choose "This world is not my home" by Jim Reeves. I guess that will put me in a better place with God.

If I could choose a song for my funeral, I would choose Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen. It makes me feel so uplifted, and I want people to feel happy for my passing to the beginning of the afterlife. I also want to play the hymn God Be With You Till We Meet Again. Throughout my family history, for several of my relatives that have passed, that song was played. I want that tradition to continue to me as well.

The ideal song for me would be Coldplay - O "Fly On"

Here a small piece of the lyrics :

A flock of birds
Hovering above
Just a flock of birds
That's how you think of love

A flock of birds
Hovering above
Into smoke I'm turned
And rise following them up

It is beautiful, isn't it?

Wow. I was thinking about this not four hours ago. I have a ready answer. Several in fact: I Was Here by Beyonce, Clouds by Before You Exit, Can You Hold Me by NF, Hold On by Chord Overstreet, Goodbye to You by Ed Sheeran and last but not least, the eternal If I Die Young by The Band Perry.

Avenged Sevenfold's So Far Away, B.O.B song Can I Fly, and Linkin Park finale of Leave Out All The Rest. Though Im trying to currently rock Upchurch's song Legend.

I could either go for O Fortuna as a joke to unnerve the guests or I could go for the 80's version of "Somebody I used to know" by Gotye for the irony.
I don't want sad, melancholy music. I want the guests to remember me but not mourn.

I love all these songs and could not choose a better playlist to send me off. They're all so touching and just perfect for a funeral or memorial.

"If I die young" by the band Perry.

It's such a deep song for those who actually listen to the message.

Plus I feel like I'm actually going to die young and I hope the things I say will be remembered by those who need them.

I'll have to give it some more thought but off the top of my head "Walking on Sunshine" to lift the mood or "Last Damn Night" :lol2:
