Does anyone else love film scores (not soundtracks)?

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

I heard a score I was really impressed with a couple days ago. Im a big fan of Japanese Kaiju films, Godzilla, Gamera, Rodan, Mothra and so on. Some have great soundtrack scores, but one of the best scores I have ever heard in any movie was from the Rebirth Of Mothra Trilogy by Toshiyuki Watanabe. The movie itself wasnt up to much, but the music was awesome, something you would never get tired of hearing.

Yes! Film scores are great pieces of music (whether instrumental or not), and Joe Hisaishi as well as the music found in Final Fantasy are my favourites.

I'll listen to film scores when I don't want to sit in silence, but need to get work done. If I listen to music with lyrics while doing work, I'll focus on the song and not my work. So, I listen to film scores instead. My favorite folks are Howard Shore, Hans Zimmer, and Danny Elfman. These three do excellent work, though I may be a little biased about Howard Shore. The Lord of the Rings is my favorite thing ever. All of it. The books, the music, the movies; they're all at the top of my list.

I love film scores! I can let my mind wander and allow my imagination to take over with the lack of lyrics. I used to love listening to the Lord of the Rings soundtrack while doing hw in school. :lol2:

I love all of Joe Hisaishi's work particularly Merry Go Round! I also really like the Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows film score by Hans Zimmer.

The first thing that comes to mind is the film score by Hans Zimmer for The Holiday. It will just calm and completely soothe your soul. How Zimmer can go from creating something so peaceful like a score for this film to dark and destructive for The Dark Knight series is a testament to his skill. That man is a legend!

I heard a good one just last night, the movie The Last Starfighter with the score by Craig Safan. Intense music, one of the best,

I could listen to the Harry Potter score all day & used it as a lullaby for my kids when they were babies.

Oh I love the soundtracks of movies! I love music without words, I feel like it has so much good emotion, without the distraction of words. Here are some of my all time favorites, including movies and games. Because games can have wonderful soundtracks as well.

K-Pax by Edward Sheamur. (Movie)
Journey by Austin Wintory (Game)
Avatar the Last Airbender by Jeremy Zuckerman and Benjamin Wynn (T.V. Show)
The Last of Us by Gustavo Santaolalla (Game)

One of the most unusual soundtrack scores and a favorite of mine is the electronic score by Louis and Bebe Barron from the 1956 film Forbidden Planet.
