What music do you listen too when you write

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

I love listening to country music when am writing and the message of the song mostly concurs with what am writing.

For me, I like to listen to Afro Beat music and some jazz sounds when I write.

Depends on what I'm writing or what I'm needing at the time. If I'm already in the mood to write and feel like I have a great idea what I'm doing, then I can listen to anything. If I'm trying to trudge through because I know I need to finish the scene, I'll have some hard rock, rap-rock, or some workout style hip hop playing, mostly from the 2000s (Papa Roach, You Got Served Soundtrack, Rage Against the Machine)

If I need a specific emotion conveyed in a scene then I'll play music to go with it. Slower, sadder stuff for the heavier scenes. Music is one of my muses.

I like to listen to songs that are melodic and have less lyrics or sometimes acoustic versions and instrumental. This kind of music helps me concentrate more on reading the book and calms my nerves to some extent.

I tend to rely on YouTube. I love picking a song I like, finding it in someone else's playlist and then just listening to their playlist. I've found a couple of really good artists that way. Generally though, it depends what kind of mood I'm in and what kind of writing I'm doing. I most often listen to Arashi, Off Course, Heather Dale and Uriah Heep.

Me too. It's like everything I want to write disapears once my attention is drawn to something else

Most of the time I can’t listen to music when I’m writing, as I find it too distracting. Although I have at times written to Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard of Oz, and Smashing Pumpkins!

As I listen to the music I think about the words, and I think about how it plays into a story, that I put into words to a poem. Either happy or sad, I try to always make it express a positive approach. There should always be a light at the end of each tunnel and you are the only one that can make the life you want it to be. And, it should be a happy one. Cindy D.

I like to listen to the Homestuck albums. Despite everything they're still my favorites, even though I haven't read the comic in ages. That or the soundtrack to King Arthur Legend of the Sword. The sound of it is perfect to let me focus.

Instrumental video game soundtracks. I would recommend Child of Light and Bastion. Far Cry 3 as well. Skyrim when I wanna get pumped.
I would also recommend playing those games! They're great!
