What music do you listen too when you write

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

It helps to listen to something with the same sort of mood as what you intend to write about. Music is a great inspiration to writers but one must be cautious not to get distracted by it :) the Foo Fighters, Hozier, and Michael Buble are among my picks.

When I write I like listening to instrumental music. Piano is my favorite.

I listen to basically anything while reading or writing, as love as it's music I like. Genre doesn't really matter as much too me.

Laid-back electronic instrumentals. ODESZA is good!
It's almost as if what I'm trying to write becomes the lyrics.

I listen to music that relates to a chapter that I write, and sometimes set the mood in the story...mostly it's r&b...in the 90's.

I prefer non-lyric songs, I find lyrics to be distracting and make my mind wander. I love piano music like that of George Winston as well as anything by Wyndham Hill!

As long as I can find something that either fits my character's personality or the current scene, then that's all I really need. If I can't find something that matches either of those two characteristics, then classic music as a generalization is fine overall.

I listen to peaceful, melodic and slow paced songs while I'm writing. It calms me down and helps me think about new ideas. Brainstorming is easy while listening to them.

When I'm writing I usually listen to slow and relaxing songs. That's why I always look for classical musics. In fact one of my favourite songs to listen to is "Claire De Lune" by Claude Debussy.

When i write i want to listen to music that will put me in a calm state of mind so i either listen to adele or sam smith because they write their music with emotions and the beats to the music amazes me in a way where i can write numerous of ideas.
