Your very first muse for poetry/music

Post by geoffrey ngoima »

My muse was first love,
My eyes on that dove,
My pen
on the nape
of her neck.
To posit that the war brings us closer to faith is a sleight of hand that makes fools of us all. "There Are Only Atheists in Fox Holes"~ Michael Carson

I wrote my first poem in first grade about my dog.
I have a dog
His name is Pup
I feed him from
A little cup.
When I come home
He likes to play
He waits for me
At the end of day.
I won a prize for that! Lol

My first muse was my unborn child. I lost my baby, and expressed myself through writing. The end result was my first published poem entitled On That Day. I found solace and healing through writing.

That's very unfortunate but you'll see him/her one day.

To me, my muse is guided by my own pain, fear and love; I have always had an acute observation and sensitivity to the world around me. Reading about the lives of other writers and artists opens my subconscious dreamland and I feel a sense of freedom which helps me create a deeper connection to my own inner voice. Hans Christian Andersson´s childhood and how he was interpreted during his life especially stirs me.
