:techie-reference: I don't really have a favorite poem, there's so many to love.
I've been writing poetry for years
In 2015, I finally finished a small book of all poetry I had written up to that point. Blurb is a great place for your work.
I printed 3, one for each of my kids😁

My favorite works of poetry are the songs from Sweeney Todd, written by Stephen Sondheim. I think that the lyrics and the rhymes are very clever, and even though the messages conveyed are rather dark, some of the songs, like A Little Priest, are rather humorous.

Lord Byron is my favorite poet. His work "When we two Parted" is superb. I do write poems too!

My favorite poem/poet is "The Bustle In A House" by Emily Dickenson. I am also a poet. I've been published many times and won $10 in the Sparrowgrass Poetry Forum contest. Winning money in poetry, no matter how small, is quite an accomplishment. It's not a good field for making money. LOL. I haven't written much lately.

Yes, I write my own poetry, which is where my profile avatar comes from (long story short; the Squid just lodged in my mind and wouldn't go away until I'd written him his own poem. And then he stuck around anyway).

I don't have a favorite poet as such, but if I had to pick one it would be W.H.Ogilvie. I also like Christina Rosetti's Goblin Market:

“We must not look at goblin men,
We must not buy their fruits:
Who knows upon what soil they fed
Their hungry thirsty roots?”

There's just something about those last two lines that send a chill down my spine every time I read them. And her poem Noble Sisters is also one of my favorites.

I do write poetry, but nothing anyone else would want to be subjected to! I also organize a poetry club (offline).

It's so hard to pick a favourite poet. Ranking among my favourites are: First World War poetry, T.S Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, Thomas Hardy, Benjamin Zephaniah, Hollie McNish, and Brian Bilston. Sincere apologies for the many amazing poets I've left off this list!

I do write poems and short stories on my personal blog. I've even posted a few here on the forums in the originals section. I don't have any favourite poem either.
"The abstract sensation of living a lifestyle that hasn't been fully understood."
- The epitome of taste in living disgrace.

My favourite poem is by Lumkile Timba Mzukwa "I LONG". I love the poem because it makes me appreciate myself though you may also direct it to someone you love.

I don't write poetry anymore because a good poem writer gave me feedback which was negative about my work.

Here’s a quick one from me...

In case there’s no tomorrow
I wanted to say “I love you”
But if tomorrow does shows up
Here’s another “I love you”
Just in case I don’t wake up.

Poetry is within us all.....

REDEMPTION

I surrendered love, even life.
You surrounded me,
Wrapped wings, a shroud of protection,
A fragment of hope.
I held true to a distant light that was us.

Though everyone doubted...
I believed in you.
And I believed in me.
I knew there was something special
A missing piece no one elsecould see.

Within the shroud that was you
I was torn from my light
Broken from everything that was me
Your wings let me fall.

Into darkness...into despair
Into blame...and into hate
Our demons seal us into our own selves.

False lies unveil the mask that we wear
Everyone will come to know the answers
Showering the truth downlike rain.
I shake off the rain...and wait for the light that was us. -Tina M.E.

I am a fan of Maya Angelou. All her poems are truly inspiring.

I do write in my spare time. Whenever a though comes to mind, I run and grab my IPad to write it out.
