I prefer to listen to heavier music. Some of the bands I choose are Nightwish, Evanescence, and Within Temptation. I tend to write fantasy, and I feel that these bands really help me get into the mood when I sit down to write. I don't always listen to music, though. Sometimes I find it to be really distracting.

I like listening to EDM or just basically any music without lyrics really.

When I'm reading something very interesting that requires my full concentration, I absolutely can't listen to music, even if it is without words. If I don't really like what I'm reading and I want to finish it just for the sake of finishing it, I listen to music to motivate me and to keep me going, and it can be anything. The one problem I have, I prefer not to listen to songs in the same language as the book, so if I'm reading something in English I can't listen to English songs, but songs in any other languages do just fine

I don't listen to music while I read. I like it to be quiet when I read.

I can't do it! I get distracted! But I would love to be a person that can do it... I listen to rain sounds at times though! It's so relaxing!

I really struggle if there's words in a song while I read, it makes it hard to process the words on the page.Lot's of movie and video game sountracks work for me, classical stuff, and those 'lofi beats' videos on Youtube that help you relax.

While reading, I have to listen to classical music, or soft music, and the volume has to be turned down very low so that I can hear my thoughts over the music. It's best that I don't listen to something I love and know well, or else I start humming and singing along with it.

Also, being a gamer, I listen to many video game soundtracks. Those help too.

I like listening to rain while I read. When I’m not reading I like to listen to rock / alternative / indie stuff, like U2, Sigur Ros and the Killers.

I can't listen to any music except instrumentals when I'm reading, and sometimes even that is distracting!
