This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

Yes. Sometimes the lyrics give you feels or emotions that awakens your creative mind. Melody from instrumentals certainly keeps you calm and think well on what to write.

Yes, although instrumental music works best to help me concentrate, like Vitamin String Quartet.

I definitely love to listen to music when I write. I don't know if what I'm listening to influences what I write, but it helps me focus.

Yes music awakens the creative part of our brains and the thrills of our fingers in writing.

It actually depends on the type of music, and yes it does help. I prefer the instrumental only to help me in concentrating and avoid distractions.

Music helps me expand my thoughts and ideas when writing. It also helps me with expanding and bettering my vocabulary. Another thing music helps with is feeling raw emotions and feelings when writing. When you listen to a song, you picture memories or things in your head and it helps you see and know what you can write.

Same for me! There are very few lyrical songs that can keep me focused on my writing. However, listening to a movie score or classical music can really inspire my creativity and writing abilities.

Music does help me a lot while I'm writing something. It feels good and clears my head, also inspiring me sometimes.

No, it distracts me. Silence works for me better.

I need complete silence when I write because I totally get into the story and any noise is a distraction to me.

It sometimes unconsciously guides my writing, but never does it actually help.
