I listen to either Hamilton, which has an outstanding soundtrack, or any classical music.

Definitely slow, instrumental songs. Nothing too upbeat, and something that will soothe my mind.

Anything classical. Or songs with lyrics I don't know. I've noticed that if I really like the song, it's quite easy to get distracted by it while reading and miss half the story.

Fantasy will have varying Celtic music depending on if it's medieval (folk music) or urban (Celtic rock). If it's a novelization from a TV show or movie, I will try to have the corresponding soundtrack playing. With romance novels, for some reason, I always somehow end up listening to Of Monsters and Men. For anything horror, the 7th Guest soundtrack.
Could you maybe post some of that Celtic music links? Those work for me too, but I have sometimes troubles to find playlists that I like.

I love different soundtracks for reading. Ones from studio Ghibli always work for me. Also classical, Celtic, country, jazz, music from 40's and chansons. It depends on a book and my mood.

I think instrumental, relaxing music is preferable than songs with lyrics. For me, meditation music works well.

Soothing, calm music. Anything without words is good.

I like to listen to instrumental music for reading. My go-to playlist is the soundtrack to The Last of Us, because the music is soft, and typically fits the mood of my favorite genres.

I also like to listen to white noise or nature sounds, particularly rain or water.

As much as I love listening to music, doing so whilst reading can be an absolute pain! All of my friends claimed listening to music helped them revise; I tried it but ended up memorising the lyrics instead aarrgggh! However, I will say that instrumental music is great to have on while reading :music-listening:

You are right! I prefer instrumentals as well because I can't hear my thoughts when I am listening to song lyrics at the same time! Try these (warning: you may find yourself daydreaming or dancing :) )

Por una Cabeza
F. Chopin : Nocturne op. 9 no. 1 in B flat minor
Camille Saint-Saëns - Danse Macabre
Four Seasons - Vivaldi (love Winter!)
Dmitri Shostakovich - Waltz No. 2
Mariage d'amour
Bach - "G Minor"
all of Ludovico Einaudi's pieces!!
XX - The Intro

These will lead you on to similar ones until you hopefully compose a list you enjoy listening to!
Good luck with your studying!

Can't listen to anything while reading. Maybe Beethoven but that's it.

I tend to put on nature sounds when I'm reading. Whether it be birds chirping, rain, or a river. In a way it makes the hearing scenery more peaceful and easier to focus on the book.
