It depends on what you are doing. If you're reading then instrumentals of your favourite songs can work or if your working out then some upbeat or rock music can go with it. Opera can be your choice if your cooking. Their are many options for different works.

If you like pop-punk and sad songs, try listening to mayday parade. Especially their song Miserable at best and Terrible Things. Those songs are so beautifully written and sad.

Songs elicit a wide range of emotions in us. I do, however, play music by various artists at various times. When I'm unhappy, I recommend Sam Smith's song, and when I want to relax, I recommend Taylor Swift and Jeremy Zucker though.
