This poem was the " Sonnet" my Dad chose for his high school sweetie in 1963. He was a disc jockey, her name was Rita Record.😊
Poe weaves through my collective unconscious. Alan Parsons composed a musical adaptation called Tales of Mystery and Imagination ( EXEMPLARY work) and Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac composed a musical version of the beloved Sonnet that I hold dear..Once I had the complete works from 1902...it was my Grandfather's. Long gone now, but E.A.P. is timeless.

The use of imagery is so fascinating.

I love the imagery of Edgar Allan Poe. It is used beautifully in this poem. I have to say, though, his meter and rhyme schemes are fascinating to me, and I like to study those more than even his imagery. He was a genius.

A screamo band that I listened to as a teen called Alesana created a whole album inspired by this poem. I don't listen to the band anymore, but do revisit the album every once and a while as well as this poem. I am really not a big poetry fan, but Poe's world of loss and darkness and horror has always really spoken to me.

This has always been one of my favorite poems. It doesn't have any particular meaning to me in relation to my life, but there is a rhythmic beauty to it the resonates with me.

This poem of Edgar Allan Poe is mesmerizing that really haunts you with the thought about "love". I remember when I was 2nd year college we perform this play it was indeed a successful play that when you recite it you can feel the emotions portrayed in this poem. I will never forget this line since this is my part: "For the moon never beams, without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise, but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling—my darling—my life and my bride,
In her sepulchre there by the sea—
In her tomb by the sounding sea."
