It doesn't sound too romantic or touchy-feely, but the lyrics in Bo Burnham's "Nerds" hits me hard. I still can't listen to it without crying. (Fair warning to anyone who looks it up- it is explicit)

Hallelujah makes me cry everytime..so does My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion. That probably has everything to do with the movie and nothing to do with the actual song though.

I LOVE Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah!" It's been one of my favorite songs since I first heard it on, yes, "Shrek." Since then I've heard SO many interpretations of the song, but my favorites are K.D. Lang's, Renee Fleming's, and Leonard Cohen's, himself. An amazing song.

"When You Come Home" by J-Clash. It was more the video that made me cry. Since my fiance is in the military, and in this video the military husband gets shot and killed, it makes me cry every time i listen to it.

It's a good song :) and the video is indeed touching... I see why it is so personal to you, hope your fiance is and will be safe and return to you unharmed!

Hallelujah really broke my heart when it was played in the episode of The West Wing in which Secret Service agent Simon Donovan is shot just as his relationship with C J Clegg was getting going. I was devastated

I notice that many of the songs I love are used to intensify horrible scenes of parting in movies... Sometimes you don't realize just how powerful your taste in music is until you see someone do something really, really affecting with it. I always listen to "Hallelujah" with my soul open. Great music.

Shenandoah by Tex Ritter. Its partly a recitation, a man talking to his wife's grave telling her about their family and how the Civil War affected them. Its one to turn on the waterworks.

"La Mama Morta" from Giordano's "Andrea Chenier," but ONLY when the leader of leading ladies sings it. You'll notice her picture to the left... :D :D :D I understand it was used famously in the movie, "Philadelphia," which I haven't seen... It's a... Well, I'll use Dolly Parton's words... It's just pitiful... :D Opera.................
