 Yeah, you'd like him. He's always going around spouting off bits of wisdom: "Don't make an enemy unnecessarily."
(Of course, I'll reply, "Oh, it's necessary.") Or he'll say, "Don't get into a <bleep>ing contest with a skunk." (And I'll say, "Good. So I can tell the person I'm mad at that you called her a skunk?") Or he'll say, "You're your own worst enemy." (And I'll say, "No, I'm your worst enemy.") Or he'll say, "You have unrealistic expectations." (And I'll say, "This lottery ticket should have made me rich. They drew the wrong numbers. That's not my fault.") Or whatever.

I think stephen king is the most obvious choice! Love it. To write a horror and make it good is a skill. I'll pinch one of my dads and do the same. Good idea :)

I'm not sure if this counts as a full book, but I'm saying it does. I'm gonna read Herbert West-Reanimator by H.P. Lovecraft.

I think that's horror and Halloweeny enough for anyone. And who doesn't like tongue in cheek zombie literature.

Sorry I'm coming in late, just joined. I usually avoid horror stuff, but one of my favorite books is Something Wicked This Way Comes, by Bradbury. Not too horrible, but it scared me as a teen.

Talking about Ray Bradbury...I never thought this was a scary book or teleplay, but every October I read and watch "The Halloween Tree." It's wonderful.

What's everyone's favorite movie to watch around Halloween? Mine is whatever's on tv ;)

It used to be "Hocus Pocus" until ABC Family ran it into the ground. Now it's "Halloween Tree" and "it's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown."

The Haunting of Hill House is fantastic and the black and white version of the movie is a great accompaniment!!!

I can say that I have never chosen a book from this genre only because I am not sure that I would enjoy it. I have been looking to broaden my choices so this may be a perfect way to start.
