It's not an absolute guide, but it helps me catch most of my mistakes.

Are you using the free Grammarly or the Premium? Premium shows more types of errors.MaryPowers88 wrote: ↑06 Nov 2018, 13:28 I am so glad to read these posts about commas. Sigh. I used Grammarly to double check a review I'd just written and it said no errors. Alas, there were many issues when I submitted the piece. Aargh! I had the same issue when working directly with an editor so I'm not so impressed with the Grammarly software. Thanks to all of you with information about additional sources.

I prefer Scribens over Grammarly - give that a go. Otherwise, PaperRater is also quite good.MaryPowers88 wrote: ↑18 Nov 2018, 02:09 I've used both the free and paid subscriptions to Grammarly. I only recently learned that there is an Academic setting in the paid version that should pick up any comma errors. I may pay for it again on a trial basis to see if that is true.
When in doubt, put your review through all of the checkers
Or, you can always ask
PS. I found the paid subscription to Grammarly didn't pick up the errors I needed it to. I didn't think it was worth the money.
