Indicating mistyped words in review

Indicating mistyped words in review
What is the proper way to include these words?
The author typed "braced" instead of "embraced."
The author typed 'braced' instead of 'embraced.'
The author typed braced instead of embraced.
Note to my kind-hearted friends using British English, I'm asking from an American English standpoint. I just point this out because i know quotation marks are usually reversed with direct quotes getting a single quotation mark.
Thank you to anyone who can clarify.

Thank you. I wasn't sure if for some reason that was considered incorrect. I had an editor tell me I need inverted commas so I wanted to get some other feedback, as I couldn't find a clear answer online.
