Supportive to others / Supportive of others

Some grammar rules (and embarrassing mistakes!) transcend the uniqueness of different regions and style guides. This new International Grammar section by OnlineBookClub.org ultimately identifies those rules thus providing a simple, flexible rule-set, respecting the differences between regions and style guides. You can feel free to ask general questions about spelling and grammar. You can also provide example sentences for other members to proofread and inform you of any grammar mistakes.

Supportive to others / Supportive of others

Post by Kristy Khem »

Hi, I would like your input on which of these are correct:

a. The links to the author’s websites in this book could be supportive to others who have faced similar tragedies.

b. The links to the author’s websites in this book could be supportive of others who have faced similar tragedies.

Lost 10 points for having "supportive to others," in a review. I understand that a person can be supportive of someone, but how can website links be supportive of others? When I wrote it, this error was not picked up on Grammarly.

Anyways, let me know what you think.
Thanks in advance.
