Generally, a space is not used before or after an em dash, but the AP style, used by newspapers, inserts a space before and after it. OBC does not follow a specific style guide, so technically, it is not an error to include a space—just make sure there is a space on either side of the dash.

I agree with you, OBC does not follow a specific guilding style.
