Contacted to do a Fake Review

Post by palilogy »

Is this illegal? I have a page on upwork where I offer to edit writing.
I was contacted to post on amazon about a book in return for pay
"Would you feel comfortable giving the book a 5-s t a r rating and posting a review that we write?"

Seems...wrong?

Wow...that seems like all kinds of wrong. They would write the review and you post it under your username?!

No not really. If it deserves that kind of rating then yeah why not.

That is so wrong!

I also believe that there are laws that could classify it as illegal.

There's actually a whole thing going on right now. Authors paying for positive reviews (and for click farms), or bullying their readers into submitting 5 star reviews. Amazon has even had to change its review policy because of it.

Thanks for the replies - I just feel as if it's not right to tell someone what review to give.
If they want to read it over that's alright...but seemed too sketchy for my moral code.
