Your Favourite Childhood Toy?

Post by Lincolnshirelass »

I was wondering what other members' favourite childhood toy was. For once, I'm not really talking about the dolls, teddies, etc, that we all loved, and possibly still do, but other things. Personally I was utterly fascinated by a kaleidoscope!

I too was fascinated by a kaleidoscope. In addition, I was also fascinated by watching ants. They all seemed to know what to do and were organized. In time I had a homemade ant farm, but all the ants died. Tangential to ants I also enjoyed reading about bugs and had my very own bug book. I was also fascinated by Sharon Maher who was blond and quite pretty, but she came in significantly behind kaleidoscopes and bugs.

@DATo. I once tried to make beds for flies out of matchboxes .... should my parents have taken me to a therapist?

Nothing could beat those little models that you had to build piece by piece and then paint. It was perfect for kids who liked to work with their hands. They were not Legos, you had to phisically glue pieces together. I used to enjoy making tanks and little cars.

@Arrigo-Lupori - that sounds a bit like Airfix in the UK ...

I've looked at their website and that is exactly what I meant :)
They were also fairly affordable, unlike Legos.

I didn't have a lot of toys growing up, just a little car and a doll but I enjoyed watching ants carry food. I loved to squash roaches and leave them in a spot I knew the ants would quickly notice. Does that make me evil?
