Whoo, your avatar, the difference is clear,we will be having a junior very soon, I am bubbling with joy.

As for the ma'am, I have the same habit too,I have the tendency of calling everyone sir or ma,but the gesture had never been returned that's why I was surprised to be called ma'am.

Lol, yes. He is sitting very low and the Drs are expecting an early delivery. :)

Honestly I usually am too. Unless it's my kids calling me ma'am. It does seem to be a bit of a rarer occurance these days.

Well, I think it is possible. I've had female best friends over the years and never got intimate with, I thought I had feelings at some point but it faded later on.

To Trisha, I concur with your thought, and I also I pray that as an Hebrew woman you shall deliver our junior to the world.

To Abayomi, thanks for sharing your opinion

I think when having a friend of the opposite gender, feelings for her/him may blossom. When you spend time with a person, you get to know that person better and better, and feelings start developing. That's why that person swiftly moves from being a friend to a best friend and something else later.

Best friends, uh, no, IF you really think about it.

In the southern United States, women of all ages, once they reach adulthood, are called "ma'am" if one either doesn't know their name or they are in a position of authority. So even in the grocery store, the clerk would call me ma'am when I was in my 20s :) My guess is the person in this conversation who called you ma'am is from the southern states.
Life without a good book is something MrsCatInTheHat cannot imagine.

One of my best friends is a guy and we've been friends for about 8 years. So yes, it's possible. Of course, it has happened to me a guy friend trying something he shouldn't. But that is about someone's personality.

I agree. I have 3 guy best friends, 7 years and going stronger. This is aside from my grade school guy best friend. Over time, we developed this sibling sort of love. Still depends on the type of person that guy is. If he befriended you with a romantic goal in mind then it might be possible. If not, then maybe no.
