In our culture, it is father's sister who chooses the name for the child. Since my father does not have any sister, my mom and dad chose the name for me. It means "pleasant sound"

My mom named me Meghan, after a character from the book and tv mini-series, "The Thorn Birds." As a kid in Casa Grande, Arizona, I didn't know any other Meghans. However, when I went to college, there were four of us on the same wing of the dormitory I lived in. "The Thorn Birds" must have been very popular!

I was actually named after the woman that watched my sister while I was being born. It could be worse, her next choice was Bunny Dee.

My real life name is the word for China or Chinese - its because my mom/dad wanted to name me as a reminder of where their homeland was, even though I'm American born. My middle name means Success I believe...a "success from China" if you will.

My name is Jemima and my parents got my name through a children's book that had Jemima the puddleduck. They hoped that it would be a bible name so they looked it up and found it.

I know where did my mother get my name because i already asked her about that. Because im so curious on how mother give name to his or her baby. By the way we are 3. Im John kenneth the eldest, Joshua Rodel the middle and Joseph andrew is the youngest. Mother said to me that she got our name in the Bible, (but we not act like an angel lol). Don't you see our first name starts with the letter J and followed by the 2nd name. Thats all haha. Just trying..

My name is Armarie. Got it from both parents. My father's name is Arman and my Mom's name is Rosemarie. 'Ar' from papa, and 'Marie' from mama.
When I was born, my father, my maternal grandma and some of my aunts were like having a name-war when a nurse asked for a name. So I've been told that the said nurse was torn who to obey among my family members and my mom was distress. While they were fighting over MY name, my mom just shouted Armarie and the nurse wrote it down, thankfully correctly. Apparently, my mom had thought about it without telling my father. Haha..

I inherited mine from my grandfather. It's really common from my part of the world to be named after dead or aging relatives.
