Are there any fantastical/supernatural elements to the story?
Many pardons. I wasn't aware that anyone had responded recently.
This is a very difficult question to answer. Technically there are no supernatural or fantastic elements to the story, but there is a scene in which one character may be interpreted as having a supernatural experience - it is all a matter of interpretation. Sorry, I know that isn't much but to elaborate further would give away this iconic scene.

Does the character significantly age throughout the story?
My apologies to you as well rssllue for taking so long to respond. The character does not age in any physical sense. The story itself does not encompass an extremely long period of time and does not involve flashbacks or flashforwards regarding the character's past or future.
BONUS HINT FOR LATENESS PENANCE : The book, as previously mentioned, is a relatively modern classic whose title I am sure you are familiar with and by the author's admission contains a huge amount of symbolism.
