Still always do. My PTSD triggers, etc are still drowning me. I hide from life and read. Reading is my stress refief. Many have it worst.

Absolutely. I often consider reality an unimportant and annoying interruption to books and music. I rarely take time off from my work, but there have been a few times that a particularly excellent book has caused me to put both work and life on hold until I've finished it. Then I end up regretting having finished it, because if it was excellent enough to convince me to abandon work over it, it has something about it that makes me want to spend more time in the author's imagined landscape.

If I really, really get into a book, then yes. If I absolutely have to finish the book, I'll even read while my husband and I are watching TV. I'll read while trying to do my chores. I'll read while my husband drives to the grocery store. There is no end to what I'll do while trying to finish a really good book.

Yes. Once I start reading I kind of get into my own zone as if I'm in the world of the book.

Some books help us survive in reality and improve yourselves, while some books help us to escape reality and live in our own world for a while. It just depends on the book that we neglect the world or not.

I never thought I would get so engrossed in reading that I would stop feeling like myself, not in a bad way just not quite me. The quarantine had me wound up in my room isolated and reading. But after the year passed and I was back to the usual socializing I realized I felt like watching the reality from afar and not like it's my own. Not just me even people around started to notice that I had become more passive.
Imagine if we had no secrets, no respite from the truth. What if everything was laid bare the moment, we introduced ourselves?

I use reading as a way to escape the real world and go into a fiction one. But I wouldn't say neglect more just take a break from.

Of course! Books are my source of escaping the real world. It is also the reason behind postponing many chores  Nowadays I am trying to balance my sleep and not stay up all night; it's hard to stop reading an interesting book.

Some books do let me forget the world; books like "the alchemist".

Yes. Whenever I feel so immersed in reading a book, I often forget about the real world— especially if the book I'm reading is fantasy.

Reading a book has actually never gotten me to forget about the real world though I would really love to but my dreams and hopes keep me in reality.

Yes, I love to get lost in a good book. There sits the laundry, the dishes, the shopping list...

I totally forget the real world when I'm reading, or else I can't focus on the book.

Honestly, that's one of the reasons I read. You can say neglecting the real world is my hobby
