Slightly more a cat person (don't tell my cat Checkmate I said 'slightly' or he won't speak to me for weeks!) but have owned and loved dogs, too. I also heard an extended version of the dogs and cats quote - 'dogs look up to us, cats look down on us, pigs treat us as equals!'

I prefer dogs than cats.
Maybe because we used to have a dog before but I still want to own one.
I'm dreaming of having a Husky puppy or the Akita breed (same breed of Hachiko).
They are very playful which I liked about them.
It is unfortunate that we are prohibited to own in our place but I definitely will do someday.

I love both cats and dogs (especially the more misunderstood dog breeds-- dobermans and rottweilers in particular, such sweeties!) Growing up we often had both at the same time. The cats would keep the doberman company and cuddle him when everyone was out for the day, and the dog would play with and watch over "his" cats. Even when it was time for vet check-ups, he would grumble and whine at the doctor if he heard the cats getting upset. And on the occasion when the dog got lost for a couple days, both cats wandered the house calling for him, as if they'd lost their kitten. They're both great animals in their own ways, especially when they get along together.

@Honeybeetle. I totally agree with you about the misunderstood dog breeds. A good friend of mine has a Staffy, and she is the softest, most loving dog you would ever hope to meet.

Im a dog person, I like cats okay but dogs seem more personal to me. Im a sucker for strays, the neighbor lady's daughter found a stray puppy someone had abandoned and brought it home. But they live in poverty and can barely afford to feed themselves let alone a dog. The poor little guy was scared and hungry and I felt sorry for the little varmint and took him in. He's grown into a big lump now and is a boob. He dosent like to be alone, he bawls and cries when left alone and is into everything, he's always got to be the center of attention. I was going to give him away then he got sick. I took him to the vet and he gave me a bunch of hypos to give him twice a day. After about a week of giving him shots in the butt he got better. That wasnt the easiest thing to do, it took two of us to hold him down. I had about 75 dollars invested in him plus the hassle of hand feeding him chicken soup and cheap hot dogs I figured Im stuck with the big lump, I better keep him for better or worse.

I am definitely a cat person. I find dogs a bit intimidating when they jump up and bark. I have a cat named after a character in Game of Thrones.
