If this... then that -book version

So friends the name of the game is if this, then that. We are changing the way it's done a bit but rules will be explained :
1. Read the first few paragraphs of your current read and choose a sentence you like.
2. Go to the end of the book and read the last few paragraphs and choose another sentence .
3. Post in the comments like this

Mr and Mrs Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much.
Have a good summer.... ‘Oh, I will,’ said Harry, and they were surprised at the grin that was spreading over his face. ‘They don’t know we’re not allowed to use magic at home. I’m going to have a lot of fun with Dudley this summer …’

Sorry I think I made the rules too complicated.
If (first line of book) then (last line of book)

I know its been a little bit, but I'll play along.

"It was night again. The Waystone Inn lay in silence, and it was a silence of three parts."
"Chronicler shook his head numbly and Bast waved as he stepped the rest of the way out the window, closing it gently behind him."

From the book Name of The Wind.

If "the tip of the sword was aiming directly to my heart, and the eyes of my murderer were like black holes that were threatening to swallow everything that was near them", then "Since you are asking so nicely, I feel uncapable of saying no".
