I am not alive, but I can confuse people.

Some examples of the way I confuse people are:

I can destroy material or be a liquid.
I can be a dry place or a place vacated.
I can be turned or cause things to turn.

I can understand how you came up with that answer, but sadly the answer is wrong.

Some examples of the way I confuse people are:

I can destroy material or be a liquid of sadness.
I can be a dry place or a way to vacate a place.
I can be a turning action or cause things to turn.

I forgot the part that said dry place
I would almost think this is motion or eviction but I don't think they fit completely

Concentrate on a liquid of sadness. What word is that? Match that with a flaw in material.
Do that with each pair of clues.

A homonym ?

1) tear ( A tear from your eye or to tear a pice of paper)
2) desert ( what you eat after dinner or to desert a house and leave)
3) wind ( to wind a clock or what turns you around in a tornado like Dorothy's house in the Wizard of Oz)
