I am doing well and hope you are too. I'm getting older but no wiser *LOL*
I remember an epic thread I started on 84 Charing Cross Road which you were a commenter and that was almost exactly 10 years ago!

A boat or a ship? You can use it to drive and half of it or part of it remains in the sea or water body.

Not a boat or a ship. It is not a means of conveyance i.e. car, ship, plane etc.

A time-share? I don't even know if that's still a thing.

Congratulations DATo !
Thank you Luna !!

Not a time share.

Hint:

1) By "specific type of traveler" is meant, how the person travels; for instance, walking in space, skier, mountain climber, airline passenger etc

2) And remember, the answer to the riddle is what the traveler uses. This could be anything from ocean waves to rocks on the side of a mountain but it is not something you would carry with you or could hold in your hands.

@ María Andrea Fernández Not the space shuttle.

@Stephanie_Chapman
Your answer is so close that it is smoking ... but it is not hiking shoes.

Not shoe prints but shoe prints is getting even closer. Add this to your earlier answer of "hiking" shoes.

Hiking backpack (gear)
You would come back with the bag but not food, drink
If you take a long trek- it is always left behind but you might trek back the next year so it will be like taking half of it every year like migration.
